Possible Set Back For Alternative Energy

Later this year the 30% Federal Tax credit on new Solar and Wind installations will expire. Without this incentive the alternative energy industry will have a major setback. Congress can renew this credit, but they are bickering and may go on their summer break without voting to extend the credit. Now is the time to contact your representatives in Congress and let them know this important bill has to be renewed.
Nancy Pelosi could bring this issue up for a vote, but she has stalled on this bill and will not call for a vote. Her phone number is: 202 225-0100, I urge you to call her and let her know we want this tax credit and it needs to be voted on. It is time to let Congress know we want action! I cant believe that this is happening, especially now when one of the main topics of discussion is our dependency on foriegn oil and what we can and need to do to fix that problem and become a self sufficient country. Please call Mr. Pelosi and urge her to extend the tax credit. The big oil companies get all kinds of tax credits, dont we all deserve the same if we install alternative solutions?

Say No to Offshore Drilling

I remember going to the beach when I was young and you would get tar on the bottom of your feet, a result of spills from the offshore oil well islands and platforms. It was sticky so the sand would stick to it and the only way to get it off was with a solvent or gasoline. The tar would wash up onto the beach and it often harmed or killed the marine life. In a time when scientists are allready agreeing that we are running out of oil, when we are seeing the effects of global warming on a daily basis, why is the possiblity of drilling off shore being put on the table for discussion? To get new wells going will take time, it could be as much as ten years before any oil made its way to our gas tanks. In that same amount of time we could be devoting our resources to developing alternative energy, fuels and alternative vehicles. We could be working on further developing solar and wind power. We could be making a real effort to save the planet.
I know that the spills that caused the problems were a long time ago and advances have been made but accidents do happen. We as a planet need to begin to ween ourselves off of oil and now is the time to start. Call your Congressman and Senators and tell them you are against offshore drilling. Keep our coasts clean, help our native marine life survive, help our oceans survive, help us survive.

Goodbye George

I think hearing this bit was the first time I heard someone that made me laugh. Again Mr. Carlins passing seems like losing an old friend, somone I grew up with.

Tim Russert

I am stunned by my reaction to the passing of Tim Russert. This has had a profound effect on me. Like many I feel like I lost a friend, a brother. Talking with friends we all agreed and said how we would often think "I wonder what Tim has to say about..."
His passing reminds us of the need to care for one another, to be the best person we can be and to always share with our loved ones what they meant to us.
In a week that ends with Fathers Day I have already been a little emotional, and the news of Tim's passing has hit particularly hard. My father passed away 6 years ago last month and the feeling of loss at this time of year is difficult.
So on this Fathers Day weekend dad, I want to say I love you, I hope you know how much and how much I miss you and wish I could talk to you again. To all of you who still have your fathers, give them a hug, tell them you love them.
Happy Fathers Day Dad!
